Shift today's puzzle 10 holes back for both or 10 holes forward for both, then we can have a conversation.
Cribbage Pro Daily Scrimmage Score: 121 to 111 Differential Discards 4. T-Q 59-50* 7. T-J 115*-96 For the position, I'm shocked I went that way for Hand 4, but looking at the cut card I dodged a bullet in doing so. |

Indeed, his is one of a few voices now absent from here. JQT would also feature in that list. |

Cannot justify any other discard here-we should be able to minimize dealers pegging with our 3 aces Sgt Pegger says: Agreed |

Even a bingo 3 cut with the AAA2 isn’t going to get you where you need to be, and needlessly gives away a precious 5 to the crib. Not overthinking this one. Eolus619 says: Morning ..Educational December CW column about you and Rob.. end game pegging ..Rob needs to bone up on his ancient history ..I think Athena would be a more apt nickname than Godzilla. SallyAnn3 says: and she looks much more like an Athena--no where near a Godzilla. |

Not overthinking for a second. Had the hand been A-2-2-2-5-K, then there would be a bit more thinking with easy shots at 12 from A-2-2-2.

Just wanted to add a comment about pegging. When you have a pair or pairs royal, the hope is that you might be able to play them together, and even better to have your opponent get in so that you can have a pegging bonanza.
Unfortunately as pone here, the aces are too small to allow a chance for 4 aces in a row to be played. Thus, leading from your three of a kind is often the best start. Even with a hand like A-A-A-8, I'd start with an A and keep my options open for the next card. Conversely, if you have 4-4-4-9, there is a chance you outpeg the dealer 16 to 6 if the play goes 9-19-23(2)-27(6)-31(14). james500 says: Hi. Congratulations on your performance for last season on Cribbage Pro. A good start to this season too. Hillchem says: Thanks James! It was a good season for a lot of the daily cribbage hand players!
And I have to correct myself above. That doesn’t work at all! Please substitute 3’s for the 4’s above. And the pegging should have been 20 to 2. Sorry!
Should have proof read my own work. |

At 65-71* playing an Offense strategy for the pegging the dynamic expected averages and Win/Loss %s are:
_______________Our Offense___Hand_Pegs_Crib____Total___W4 %____W5 % A-A-A-5____8.13+1.13+(-4.22)=5.04____27.3____34.1 A-A-5-K____6.17+1.28+(-4.56)=2.89____21.7____29.1 A-A-2-5____4.74+1.83+(-3.81)=2.76____25.9____31.7 Offense______L4 %____L5 % A-A-A-5_______49.5____53.0 A-A-5-K_______51.5____59.7 A-A-2-5_______48.2____55.4 A-A-A-5 is best for expected averages by 2.15pts. and is very much best for Win %s and is slightly lowest for Loss %s. So, I'll select the 2-K to discard. After the 5 cut I'll lead an A and play Defense: Lead____________Dealer's Pegging Points A________________________(-2.07) 5________________________(-2.97) |
